We regularly carry out 2- and 5-stage vettings in the UK, mainland Europe and the Republic of Ireland. This process helps ensure the horse is fit for purpose and gives buyers greater confidence in their investment.
We attend most thoroughbred sales in the UK, France and Ireland to perform pre-bidding examinations (including wind tests, endoscopies, ultrasound scans and radiographs) of thoroughbreds sold at auction.
Nowadays buyers often request a “full set of radiographs” to rule out presence of bone lesions such as chips, fragments, kissing spines and so on; these include between 38 and 62 radiographs and take between 20 and 40 minutes to complete.
We are happy to help you out in the purchase of your next horse. Please give us a call to discuss your requirements.
Please see below for a detailed outline of what is involved in a pre-purchase examination. This is taken from “BEVA/RCVS Guidance Notes on the Examination of a Horse on Behalf of a Prospective Purchaser.”
